Rap Music is a Form of Poetry

It has been said over and over that rap music is lyrical poetry.  So, does that mean that all rap music is poetry?  Is Lil Wayne a poet? If we consider him a poet, how do you understand what he is saying? Can you listen to one of Lil Wayne's rap songs, and automatically recite a verse?  Or for that matter, can you write down what he is saying?

Tell me do you think all rappers are poets?  Who is your favorite poet?  Do read poetry?  What do you like about poetry?  What don't you like about poetry?

    Yes it is a form of rap because some raps may ryme just like a poem may. I feel like lil wayne is a poeot cause he rhymes when he is rappping and it may be a little hard for to understand he trying to say but its a little intresting if you listen to it for a while.Yess i can just listen to one of lil waynes rap and recite it sometimes it may be a little catch.many times its really NASTY.yes some rappers may have went to school to learn how to do poerrty and they may have fell in love with rapping.my vaforivite poet is langston huges.yes i may read poetry sometimes but not alot.I like that poetry is intresting.

    No i dont think rap is a form of poetry.for example lil wayne rhymes and sometimes he doesnt .sometimes its nasty sometimes its not.i dont have a favorite poet but i do have a favorite rapper/singer. her name is nicki minaji i like her because she is like a life size BARBIE DOLL!

    I dont think that is all the way true.Because repeating two sentences over and over again and adding rhyming words is not poetry.But then again some songs are poetry like Im not going to write u a love song by Sarah Barillo.Lil Wayne is not a poet if he doesnt write his own songs or personality on TV. Also you cant understand what he says and poets prounciate and enuciate. I could listen to one of his songs a say a verse but it would probaby be something like the chorus.But i could not for sure write it down. I dont know any particular poets because i dont read poetry.SUPERIOR SABRINA

    i think raps are great and you should to and i like raps becuse you can learn something from it and it will get you thinking and i dont think raps are like portry and if you do thats your choice not min well thats great FROM FUNNY FREEDOM
